Use of AI by university students: In search of ethical and regulated use for the contribution to the human right to education

Authors

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents a highly significant tool for the academic and research fields. However, the lack of regulatory frameworks based on ethics and axiological principles to guide students, faculty, and researchers leaves the use of information generated by open????access AI platforms to the individual discretion, interpretation, and stance of the user. This article is based on a quantitative methodology, employing the analytical???? ????synthetic method and the survey technique. A question???? naire was designed and administered to a sample of 129 undergraduate Business Administration students from the Complejo Regional Mixteca (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla). The primary finding indicates that the absence of federal, state, and/or institutional regula???? tions would constitute a violation of the students’ human right to education and could even impact their academic trajectories. Furthermore, it creates the potential for pla???? giarism due to a lack of knowledge regarding the proper handling of information sourced from AI.
