Authors

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this text is to examine discrimination and intolerance against religious minorities and non-believers in the fundamentalist and integrist community of Nueva Jerusalén in Michoacán, Mexico. Information from this locality was obtained through field research conducted by the authors, given the scarcity of scientific texts due to strict access rules. Through a multidimensional approach, which includes legal and philosophical theories, the causes, manifestations, and possible solutions to these problems are analyzed. Additionally, using the theory of legal principles, the balancing test, along with concepts of secularism and secularization, a framework is proposed to mitigate religious discrimination and promote tolerance. Furthermore, methodologies such as communicative action, discourse ethics, and dialogical hermeneutics are explored to foster inclusive and rational dialogue between the different factions of the community.
