BRIEF COMMENTS ON A RECENT STUDY BY THE INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Abstract
Abstract: This article analyzes the report “Inter-American Standards Concerning Freedom of Religion or Belief”, issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in 2023, both in its majority vote and the two minority votes. The document presents several deficiencies and gaps with respect to this right, contributing more to its weakening than to its protection, since it considers religious freedom a danger to other human rights and accuses it of generating situations of discrimination, intolerance and hate speech with respect to different groups that are considered vulnerable.
