Abstract

This article analyzes the document “Study on Freedom of Religion and Belief. Inter-American Standards”, issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in 2023, both in its majority vote and in the two minority votes. The document presents several deficiencies and gaps with respect to this right, contributing more to its weakening than to its protection, since it considers religious freedom a danger to other human rights and accuses it of generating situations of discrimination, intolerance and hate speech with respect to different groups that are considered vulnerable.
