The right to freedom of religion in the universal system of human rights

Abstract

The objective of this article was to analyze the persecution of Christianity in relation to religious freedom as a human right in the universal system of human rights. Through the application of a documentary type methodology, it is specified that the right to religious freedom is provided for in international human rights law, however, the instruments towards the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion are pending adoption for its effective compliance, its effect is the existence of state persecution of people who profess a religion, particularly the case of Christianity from ancient times to the present.
